Welcome to the 2025 Autumn Terrier.
Storm Amy is about to land, although I think in (previously) Sunny Suffolk we should get off relatively lightly.
A very successful National Conference was held in Bath towards the end of September, so well done to Dan and all officers involved. Thanks, of course, to ACES Corporate Members Norse, Avison Young, Carter Jonas, and Lambert Smith Hampton, and Hartnell Taylor Cook who sponsored the wine at the rather splendid reception and gala dinner held at the Roman Baths. Write ups of the conference and the social programme are included in this issue.
This bumper issue of 36 articles contains some individual write ups of some of the conference presentations. More will be included in subsequent issues. Local government reform, practice and strategies, is a theme explored in depth; there are a few pieces which I hope are of interest to ACES’ growing cohort of FACES members, together with some new legislation and case law which practitioners need to be aware of.
For some lighter relief, please turn to the back pages. thanks to all regular contributors. Although I wouldn’t admit it directly, David Bentley’s travel tales made me smile, although he could do with improving his puns!
