The conference

In September, RICS Accreditation Team and Next Generation Team welcomed educators, careers professionals and industry stakeholders to London HQ for the annual iBEE and RICS Accredited Providers Conference (Innovation in Built Environment Education). Held on 10 and 11 September, the event provided an opportunity to share insights, explore emerging trends in education and discuss how we can collectively strengthen the talent pipeline into the surveying profession.

Across the two days, delegates heard from a range of speakers on topics including employability, skills development, accreditation, diversity and inclusion, and the future needs of the profession such as a session on AI in education. On the first day, we also held a Next Generation panel, which saw a T-Level student, an apprentice, undergraduate student, and MRICS member discussing their journeys in the profession and education so far, which particularly engaged the audience.

We kicked off day two with the main sponsor Procore, and Dr. Irish Horsey’s keynote about “Building the future workforce in the age of AI and the database boom”, which was then followed by various engaging workshop sessions and networking opportunities.

We finished off the event with Skills England and Assessment Reform, which explained what the changes mean for universities, professional bodies and employers.

The conference also provided valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration, enabling universities, providers and industry representatives to exchange ideas and identify new ways to support students and future surveyors.

A key theme throughout the event was ensuring that surveying remains visible, relevant and accessible to the next generation. Through strong partnerships between RICS, accredited providers and employers, we can continue to create meaningful pathways into the profession and equip learners with the skills required to succeed in an evolving built and natural environment.

Launch of the new RICS TikTok channel

We are also excited to announce the launch of the new RICS TikTok channel, @ricssurveyors. The channel has been created to increase awareness of surveying and showcase the wide range of exciting careers available across the profession to a new generation of potential surveyors.

TikTok provides an opportunity to reach young people where they already spend their time and engage with content in a way that is authentic, accessible and relatable. Through the channel, we will be sharing day-in-the-life features, project highlights, career journeys, pathway information, and insights from surveyors working across the globe.

The success of the channel will rely on the support of our members, students and candidates. We want to showcase real stories from across the profession and hear from individuals at every stage of their surveying journey. Whether they’re an apprentice, student, newly qualified professional or experienced chartered surveyor, their experiences can help inspire future talent and demonstrate the impact surveyors have on society.

Please follow @ricssurveyors, engage with the content, and share it with your networks to help us build awareness of surveying careers and inspire the next generation of professionals.
